ABSTRACT

At any given point in time, there are almost always different business activities and market forces occurring that make it very difficult to isolate Lean as a causative factor in a given outcome. Workforce reductions, freezes on spending, or, conversely, expansion of new facilities will of course impact financial and workplace efficiency in addition to any Lean effort occurring at the same time. Because of all these factors that can simultaneously impact outcomes, it is important for an organization embarking on a Lean transformation to have predeployment discussions regarding how they will judge success.
