ABSTRACT
A communication system is dynamic in the sense that some nodes may move
from one location to another. Such nodes are called mobile nodes. In this
chapter we assume that the mobile nodes are terminals which can be connected
to networks through different fixed network nodes as depicted in Figure 11.1,
where the mobile node m is connected to the network through node 2. When
it moves close to node 5, it will switch its connection to node 5. Informally,
the switch of the connection is called handover.
