ABSTRACT

In the 16 countries in Europe where the euro is used as currency at present, country borders can be crossed without passport, and political, economic, and social strategies are deˆned in common by governments. But several obstacles for a full integration of peoples still survive. How is it possible to receive health care in the European Union (EU)? What are the main differences in the healthcare services provided by the EU countries? What are the similarities? To such questions, a recent analysis (see https://www.ilbisturi.it, in Italian) has presented the most signiˆcant characteristics of the European healthcare systems, according to information collected from the European Parliament and the organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD).
