ABSTRACT

Recent interest in cultural differences in decision making under a robot’s in™uence has arisen from the internationally expanding use of service robots. According to a report of world robotics from the IFR Statistical Department, 63,000 service robots for professional use and 7.2 million units for personal and private use had been sold by the end of 2008. This number is expected to reach 112,000 and 18.8 million respectively by 2012 (IFR Statistical Department 2009).
