ABSTRACT

A major design driver of FlexRay was to keep costs low while delivering high performance in a rugged environment. Nodes are interconnected by using unshielded twisted pair cabling supporting either single-channel or dual-channel configurations. Dual-channel configurations can be used for increased (doubled) bandwidth or for fault-tolerance by sending redundant data over each channel. The effects of external noise on the network is reduced by employing differential signaling on each twisted pair [146].
