ABSTRACT

A subset of experimental data obtained during my rst trip to the Hamilton Laboratory (Hamilton, Canada) in the winter of 1995 allowed me to evaluate the ability of our reconstruction algorithms for resolving different contrast levels for both absorption and scattering coefcients between target and background media. In order to initially resolve issues related to detectability, resolution, or the presence of multiple targets, I made my second trip to Hamilton in the early summer of 1995, accompanied by my wife and son this time. Again I spent many hours in the laboratory performing the tedious experiments. When I got to the hotel room late in the night each day, I was full of joy because my family was with me. The experiments were completed successfully. The results from this second trip are all documented in Section 4.2.
