Meeticide™, death of resource efficiency by meetings, is the leading cause of fatality for most global projects and count-

less aspiring project careers.

Waste is at epidemic proportions in the United States. In a 2005 report by Dan Malachowski, called Wasted Time at Work Costing Companies Billions,1 he states that Salary.com calculated that employees waste at least 2.09 hours per 8-hour day and employers spend at least $759 billion per year on salaries for which real work was expected, but not actually performed, as shown in Figure 7.1.
