ABSTRACT
Image segmentation and image registration are challenging issues that are encountered in a wide range of fields such as medical imaging (object detection and shape tracking, comparison of images taken at different instants, data fusion from images that have not necessarily been acquired with the same modality, comparison of data to a common reference frame) and pattern recognition or geophysics.
