ABSTRACT
Noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) is a figure of merit that describes the performance and thermal sensitivity of a thermal imager system. NETD is related to the main characteristics of spatial resolution systems and sensitivity systems. While it is used primarily in infrared literature, it is also applied to different systems, in different conditions, and with different meanings. This entry focuses on the use of NETD from its inception to the present.
