ABSTRACT
Computer vision is a rapidly developing sector with many applications. This entry examines the area of automatic target recognition (ATR). The goal of ATR is to find algorithms that will detect and recognize prescribed targets in arbitrary scenes. Often, the methods that are utilized come from many disciplines including engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, and biology.
