ABSTRACT
This entry presents mechanisms underlying the use of lasers in biomedicine in detail. Tissue optics and laser irradiation parameters typical for each mechanism are described. Diagnostic as well as therapeutic applications of lasers in biomedicine are briefly reviewed.
