ABSTRACT

Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) are monoepoxides of arachidonic acid and fall into the general class of chemical mediators termed eicosanoids along with prostaglandins (PGs) and thromboxanes (TXs). There are several excellent reviews describing the biosynthesis of EETs, their metabolic pathways, their role as endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factors, and other biological activities (Fleming 2001; Spector 2009; Spector et al. 2004; Spector and Norris 2007; Zeldin 2001).
