ABSTRACT

A great challenge of modern agriculture is to extend the postharvest life of fruits of temperate climate in order to reduce losses and increase the product lifetime on the market. Many forms of storage have been researched as to different temperatures allied to bio’lms, biodegradable coatings, controlled atmosphere (CA), and modi’ed atmosphere (MA). The development of new techniques is very important for producers because they can minimize postharvest losses and add value to their product that will have longer trading period. This chapter describes properties and results of research in which storage techniques related to temperature were used to preserve fruits.
