ABSTRACT
Pharmacy practice has changed in the United States from making drug preparations from plants found in nature to helping physicians decide which drug to prescribe and helping patients make the best use of their medication. This evolution from apothecary to clinical practitioner has not been easy, but it has been based on an ethos of helping patients and love of the profession. Today, many pharmacists strive to practice pharmacy using the principles of pharmaceutical care.
