ABSTRACT
Pharmacy emerged from its traditional dispensing and drug distribution roles in the early 1960s to ful•ll a more clinical role. During this time, pharmacy also discovered that it was a knowledge-based profession. It was discovered that pharmacy could and should move beyond its knowledge of the practice of pharmacy and its basic knowledge of drugs-there was a need to help with the rational use of drugs.
