ABSTRACT

Metallic bismuth is an important element with many distinct industrial applications as a component of low-melting alloys, catalysts, and for production of polonium in nuclear reactors and tetra–uorohydrazine among others.1,2 High-purity metal is used for measuring super-strong magnetic £elds. Bismuth in nanostructured forms has been mentioned in some recent monographs,3-7 reviews,8-10 patents,11,12 and a lot of experimental articles. This section is devoted to highlights in obtaining its distinct nanoforms by a series of classic and novel techniques.
