ABSTRACT

The shunt admittance of a line consists of the conductance and the capacitivesusceptance. Theconductanceisusuallyignoredbecauseitisverysmall comparedtothecapacitivesusceptance. Thecapacitanceofalineistheresult ofthepotentialdifferencebetweenconductors. Achargedconductorcreatesanelectric„eldthatemanatesoutwardfromthecenteroftheconductor. Lines of equipotential are created that are concentric to the charged conductor. This is illustrated in Figure 5.1.
