ABSTRACT

The entry calls for a range of “right brain” and “left brain” skills for designing and running retail supply chains. The five supply chain management tasks are described along with the associated demand for new or upgraded skills. The project plan for implementing supply chain process improvement is shown. Also covered is the maturity matrix for assessment of existing skill levels for each of the SCM tasks. IKEA and Wal‐Mart cases illustrate barriers to implementing change.
