The authors frame the environmental and business impact of closed loop supply chains. They describe the focus of their entry on chains that include some level of remanufacturing or refurbishing, as remanufacturing is a value‐added operation providing economic benefits and environmental benefits due to the extension of the product's useful life and reduced energy and material consumption.
