ABSTRACT

We have covered some of the theory behind the science of Lean improvement and discussed the value-added and non-value-added principles. We talked about the seven wastes: overproduction, overprocessing, waiting, inventory, defects, motion, and transportation. ese wastes constitute most non-value-added activities. We also reviewed the principles of improvement: flow, pull, defectfree, visual management, and kaizen. ese principles help eliminate large amounts of non-value added activities.
