ABSTRACT
This equation shows f1 to be the fraction of the element contributed to the mixed pool by source 1. The method assumes no discrimination or fractionation between isotopes as the element enters or leaves the mixed pool. That assumption is reasonable for some cases, and in others (e.g. 87Sr/86Sr) standard data processing corrects for certain fractionations.
