ABSTRACT

The headquarters of Frankfurt Pharmaceutica was on the western outskirts of the city. Monday morning traf fic-cars, motorcycles, bicycles-was extremely heavy, and the taxi ride from the downtown area was much more arduous for Goodman’s throbbing head than had been the arrival from the airport the day before. Even though the traffic was going mosdy in the opposite direction, there was enough volume to tie up several of the downtown intersections. The driver swore repeat edly as he was alternately cut off o r did the cutting himself. The sudden stops and startings did not help Goodman’s headache, a hangover he attributed to the strong beer the night before.
