ABSTRACT

The weather report on BBC-1 had predicted snow, but the independent radio station that Dr. Harold Haw thorne also listened to predicted only more rain. It was no surprise to Hawthorne when the snow failed to materialize and rain fell instead. “I don’t trust that new chap at the BBC anyway,” he told his wife while he dressed for work. “The old one was reliable, but not this young know-it-all.”
