ABSTRACT

Our aim is to define a transformation of the face to a normalized position which is consistent for an individual independent of view or expression. We use the location of the bridge of the nose, the base of the nose, and the inside corners of the eyes. The line connecting the two nose feature points is aligned with the vertical or 7/-axis (determines the rotation about the x-and z-axes), and the line determined by the two inside corners of the eyes is aligned parallel to the xaxis (determines rotation about ?/-axis). The nose bridge is positioned at a fixed translation along the z-axis from the origin. Figure 9.1 shows a caricature of this normalized view.
