ABSTRACT

Many systems are designed to track the six degree-of-freedom (6DOF) pose of an object (or person) relative to a fixed-coordinate frame in its environ ment [Foxlin 98] [Ghazisadedy 95] [Meyer 92] [State 96] [Welch 97]. These tracking systems use a variety of sensing technologies, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, to measure a world-coordinate pose — required for virtual and augmented reality applications.
