ABSTRACT

Hardware multi-sampled anti-aliasing (MSAA) [Kirkland 99] support is the standard way to implement anti-aliasing, but it is a very expensive way to achieve high quality anti-aliasing and offers little assistance for anti-aliasing deferred effects. This chapter introduces a new method for anti-aliasing edges by selective pixel blending. It requires a fraction of the space needed for MSAA, and is compatible with deferred effects.
