ABSTRACT
The properties of the image of an object critically depend on how light interacts with the object's material. This interaction is dominated by two processes. First, light is reflected when it encoun ters the surface of an object. Second, light tha t is not reflected a t the interface is scattered and absorbed after it enters the body of the object material. Each of these processes affects the spec tral properties of the reflected light.
