ABSTRACT
The Editors are personally and professionally invested in connecting mathematics and fiber arts. sarah-marie focuses on knitting and has designed a number of objects, continually challenging herself to push the envelope of what is known and what is possible. Carolyn enjoys knitting, crocheting, tatting, and temari balls. Often she finds thinking deeply about the patterns of others to be as interesting as designing her own. Over the years we have made a concerted effort to foster thoughtful communities of fiber artists in various sectors of our lives. Most notably, we have held the Knitting Network at the AMS-MAA Joint Mathematics Meetings since 2000, at MathFest whenever we can, and at the AP Calculus readings in 2006 and 2009. We are also active members of local fiber arts groups.
