ABSTRACT

The synthesis and property evaluation of inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) is a mature and ongoing research direction both in the material science and nanoscience elds. Combining properties of NPs with those of polymers, aiming at the production of hybrid multifunctional NPs and nanostructures, presents several advantages and opportunities. Hybrid NPs and nanostructures dispersed in liquids will be the focus of this chapter. The eld is enormous and is developing rapidly. It is difcult to really mention every effort. Some general relevant reviews on different aspects of this fascinating research direction can be found in the reference section. In an effort to discuss basic concepts and recent developments in the eld, we present and discuss some selected examples.
