ABSTRACT

White House Counsel John Dean had a couple of things right in his assessment of money laundering. It does cost money to do the job right, and it sure can be dangerous-as he and his boss were soon to ˆnd out. Money laundering is also the kind of thing the Maˆa does, but others do it, too. In fact, as both Dean and Nixon knew, many close to the president had been laundering campaign contributions for a while and had gotten quite good at it.
