ABSTRACT

Steve Martin is right: The French have got a different word for everything, but the language of banking is not English, French, or Japanese-it’s money. “Money spoken here” is the rule at banks all around the world, and as we’ve seen in earlier chapters, the rules about money are very rigid. One of those rules, probably Rule #1, is that once in the ˆnancial system, money doesn’t just get lost. This rule is strictly adhered to by banks everywhere and, in following it, they all use pretty much the same procedures.
