ABSTRACT

When most people think about gangs, they envision large groups of young, usually African-American or Hispanic men dressed in ways that make it clear that they are members of a group. However, as we have seen throughout the earlier chapters, these images are not always correct. One of the ways that this picture is incorrect is to assume that gang members are all men. Women and young girls are gang members, too. However, while not the majority of gang members, females certainly are known to be members of gangs.
