ABSTRACT

Motorcycle gangs have been a part of American culture for years. Some may believe that motorcycle gangs only started after World War II. But truly, there were many small and typically law-abiding small clubs prior to this time. Motorcycle gangs truly became a part of the society’s counterculture in the late 1940s. The movie industry portrayed a fierce, criminal, cruel, and antisocial group that would later be defined as a 1%er gang, meaning a criminal gang.
