ABSTRACT

The two forms of Time Variance included in the Time Variant Solution Design are Type 1 and Type 2 Time Variance. The join strategy in a Type 1 Time Variant context, casting all past events in the present context of the enterprise, is based on Entity Keys. The join strategy in a Type 2 Time Variant context, casting all past events in the context in which they occurred, is based on Instance Keys. The Time Variant Solution Design embeds two expressions of dimensions in a Fact table. The time variant contexts of the Driver and Correlation Objects can juxtapose each other. When the Driver Object is an Instance Key and the Correlation Object is an Entity Key, the Market Basket Analysis considers each individual occurrence of the Driver Object against the whole universe of occurrences of the Correlation Object.
