ABSTRACT

A primary event is the time scheduled for these state transitions. In general, the approach to event scheduling is that when a new (arrival or service completion) event is scheduled, it is automatically placed in chronological order on the timescale with other primary events. €e simulator selects the next event “scheduled” to occur and, depending on its type (arrival or departure), performs the appropriate actions. €e event is then removed from the primary events list (PEL) to indicate that the event has occurred. Because the next state transition corresponds to the next primary event, the simulation clock is advanced to the time of the next event on the PEL. €is process is repeated until the simulation period ends.
