ABSTRACT

All the above statements are motivational quotes about change, but it is likely that every person will answer differently-depending on their tolerance for change and how their organization approaches implementation of HIT and EHR. This chapter covers implementation of redesigned workflows and processes. It also urges care delivery organizations (CDOs) to be proactive in putting attention on change management, making change management a priority, creating change agents, and using specific change management tools to help manage change during implementation of HIT and EHR. There is a tremendous body of knowledge

on change management. There is no absolute silver bullet, but this chapter is intended to explore approaches to change management that have been effective when dealing with knowledge workers adopting information technology.
