ABSTRACT

What Is a Lessons Learned Support System? An LLSS is inherently a system of records that are linked to a management function, i.e., Knowledge Management (KM) that is available to provide Project Evaluation (PE)-related content for a Lessons Learned Report (LLR). These systems must be accessible to Project Team Members (PTMs) from a reporting perspective so the information is transferable to the LLR. While most systems are computerized, paper-based (manual systems) should always be considered. Many LLSS are adaptable to meet the specific LL needs of the organization, i.e., through a reporting tool, such as business objects. An LLSS can range in application, size, and complexity. The key is to be able to locate the LLSS and then to determine the most appropriate use for LL (Table 4.1).
