ABSTRACT

From a frequentist perspective, there are two types of parameter estimation: point and interval. With the former, we compute an estimate for a parameter with a single xed but unknown value (see Chapter 4). With the latter, we estimate the bounds of an interval that preceding sampling contains a parameter at a given probability. This chapter concerns interval estimation, and resampling and simulation methods that allow interval estimation.
