ABSTRACT

Glycals have been extensively used for the synthesis of a wide range of carbohydrate derivatives such as O-,1,2 C-,3 S-,4 and N-glycosides,5 cyclopropanated carbohydrates,6 and natural products.7 In particular, the Ferrier2 and the azidonitration reactions,8 together with Danishefsky’s glycal methodology1a (through epoxides), represent the most widely exploited applications.
