ABSTRACT

Materials science explores the relationship between the structure and properties of materials. Borrowing techniques and practices from solid-state chemistry and physics for the synthesis and characterization of materials, it has developed as a separate scientific area. Originally, it had no affinity with biology, but the advent and integration of nanoscience and nanotechnology into materials science has changed this dramatically [1,2].
