ABSTRACT
Central venous catheters (CVCs) are critical devices needed for patient care during intensive care unit (ICU) hospitalization. They are used to administer many therapies including parenteral nutrition (PN), chemotherapy, IV medications and uid resuscitation, hemodialysis, and hemodynamic monitoring. This chapter will focus on CVC use for PN in the critically ill patient.
