ABSTRACT

Crisis negotiations is a process designed to preserve human life-that of police, hostages, civilians, and hostage takers. We take time to listen so the crisis can be resolved by bringing the subject to his or her senses, not necessarily to his or her knees. By dežnition, the call for crisis negotiators means there is a stressful, if not life-endangering, set of circumstances that we have been called upon to resolve as peacefully as possible. Again, as peacefully, not as quickly, as possible (Noesner, 2010).
