ABSTRACT
Even in those situations when a dynamic entry and rescue are inevitable, the process of talking with the hostage holder ensures the gathering of intelligence and passage of time (Strentz, 1991). During this interim, the assault team can prepare. e commander can gather and use additional intelligence to help achieve a safe and successful solution while saving the lives of the entry team. Why more on-scene commanders do not understand this logic lies beyond my comprehension.
