ABSTRACT
The convenience store evolved from a variety of sources early in the twentieth century. Convenience stores drew on characteristics of many types of retail establishments in existence during that time. Some of these were the classic mom-and-pop general store, dairy stores, supermarkets, delicatessens, and most important, the ice house of pre-refrigerator days.
