ABSTRACT
Security needs for a building must be determined early, as part of the architectural programming and problem denition process. Burglary, industrial espionage, shoplifting, riots, vandalism, assault, rape, murder, and employee theft are crimes that imperil lives and drive up the cost of doing business. As crime increases, incorporating security into the design and construction of the built environment is critical for public safety and protection of assets.
