There is a difference between an invention and an innovation. An invention is a new idea, concept, product or process or new modification to existing products and processes. It is something that is new and technically feasible. Often the new idea is legally protected by law through a patent or copyright. An innovation is an invention that has been commercially exploited. It is technically and commercially feasible and socially desirable.
