Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) isolation and puri cation are essential techniques for molecular biology studies. The quality and integrity of the DNA isolated directly affects the results of all subsequent scienti c research.1-4 A number of methods have been developed for extraction and puri cation of DNA from different tissue types and organisms. We present several well-developed protocols here for the isolation of DNA from bacteria, lambda phages, animals, and plants and the puri cation of DNA fragments from agarose gels.
