ABSTRACT

Service is filling someone’s need-it’s a human transaction. It’s a pact between the helper and the recipient (customer). In that pact there is an expectation to provide a sufficient value or experience, which leads to a mutually beneficial relationship. The short-term goal of any service provider should be to make people feel good about spending their time and money. Another goal is to earn repeated business, but the long-term goal should be customer advocacy leading to word-of-mouth advertising. It is extremely powerful to have someone suggest your services to their friends and family. Creating the conditions that increase receptivity for an up-sale is also important since it costs less than a cold sale.
