ABSTRACT

The tribological properties of aqueous solutions of silicone polyethers and pure polyethers are evaluated. Three compounds, whose molecules differ in the siloxane chain length and the number of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol units in the polyether chain, are investigated. The lubricating properties of the solutions are determined using a four-ball tribometer (T-02 tester). The measurements are carried out under constant loads of 2, 3, 4, and 5 kN. Antiseizure characteristics (scufng load, seizure load, limiting pressure of seizure) are also investigated by carrying out the test with the load increasing with time. The effect of concentration and chemical structure of silicone polyether on tribological properties is discussed. These model lubricants exhibit exceptionally benecial tribological properties. Studies on their application to highly loaded friction pairs will be carried out in the future.
