ABSTRACT

While it would be helpful if the sales and marketing community and the operations folks could get on the same page and decide whether we should call this series of activities a chain or a channel, we have to give them credit for both coming up with metaphors that denote continuity. They are all talking about the flow of materials all the way from the raw state to the final consumption of it in the form of some product someone will use to destruction. It seems reasonable to assume that how well that flow proceeds through your factory from the receiving dock to the shipping dock would be a big driver of how well you do.
